A Spark Of Hope Lingers

by Dawn Munro

~ A Spark Of Hope Lingers ~

No flowers bow at edge of path,
no sunlight greets my morn.
No stars alight within these eyes
when first the moon is born.

No whispers murmur on the wind.
No messengers arrive.
No music played of love and faith,
to keep my hope alive.

There are no miracles for me -
I've used up my fair share.
If only I could truly know
this time you really care.

But no names mentioned - written words
that anyone can see.
A language scribed straight from your muse,
not likely meant for me.

An ocean wave upon white sand,
the morning's mist and dew -
these are more tangible, my friend,
than any word from you.

Yet both recede as if they weren't
as real as dawn's first light.
Forgive me - I am out of strength
and giving up my flight

of fancy dancing,
heart's images so sweet.
You taught me well, forevermore
my courage doth retreat.
