A chapter in the book Writings From the Heart

We Survive

by deepwater

Echo of sound ring high

This cold wet London eve

It flows through the city

Like doves on the wing

The bells are the signal

Time to proceed

Shelters are  safe haven below

Drones from engines thunder high in the sky

Sirens scream to deploy

Run for your life

Search out your God

Pray as never before

Cries of babies and children

Ring out from terrors of nightmares re-lived

Death and destruction lay a-round

Previous nights we endured

Our heavenly father we pray up above

Salvation for children we seek

City in shambles

The bombers retreat

Sirens sing out all clear

Time for my family and me to be gone

Pack up and leave this old town

Bow bells would ring to remember this day

History will tell us its tale

Man can survive every turmoil and strife

Oh, father we pray to you
