Heartbreak for Two
by Spiritual Echo
Last night we engaged in a battle of wills. Starting over dinner, the evening deteriorated, with not a single moment of peace. I watched her run from the room, a blur of blonde curls, anger and tears, feeling my heart sink. No one should go to bed angry.
An hour later, prepared to pander to her charm and erase the harsh words spoken between us, I went to the bedroom, but she was asleep.
"Oh, Maggie; I'm so sorry," I said, kissing her forehead and wiping away one last tear.
One eye opened. "It's okay. I love you too, Daddy."
"I don't love you anymore."
