The Teddy Bear and the Puppy

by Sandra Stoner-Mitchell

The cuddly little teddy bear was sitting by the door,
a tiny tear-drop trickled down and splashed upon the floor.
He looked around but could not see his little playmate Sue.
Why had she gone and left him here? Whatever could he do?

Then suddenly the doorbell rang, and Sue's mum came along.
She opened up the door and then his perfect world went wrong.
In came a little puppy dog, and then his playmate, Sue.
The puppy came and picked him up and found his ear to chew!

The cuddly little teddy bear did not feel very well.
His ear was hurting very much but he'd no voice to tell.
Then he was thrown onto the ground and Mummy picked him up.
"Well, you're a state!" she said to him, and then turned to the pup.

"This little teddy is Sue's friend; he'd be a friend of yours,
but you must treat him gently now, or I'll send you outdoors."
The lively little puppy dog looked at the teddy bear.
He smiled at him and promised to always treat him with care.

Now, cuddly little teddy bear is puppy dog's best friend.
They go together everywhere and will do till the end.
And does the little girl still want them like she used to do?
Of course she does; she loves her teddy, and the puppy too!
