Fabulous Rhyme and Metric Mayhem on contests!!
Once More To the Well!
by michaelcahill
A contest calls my pen to arms.
These scribes don't stand a chance. But, will any cast their votes for me? Or, is loss my happenstance? They say they love my words so sweet, the rhyme and even flow and that elite alliteration, a word that I don't know. They embrace the tender meaning of my heart so overflowing They say I used a metaphor with me not even knowing It seems I've been enjambing I hope no one was hurt I try to be so gentle always I need a rhyme, Oh! help me Burt! (A rhyming couplet he did blurt. They thought he couldn't? Very curt!) The thing that chaps my tender hide and makes me want to yell, if I am such a poet skilled, where are all the votes pray tell? So, once more to the well I stride and cast my penny down Will dollars sail my posts tonight? Or, should I dive right in and drown? |

I am not allowed to grovel for votes. So, I suppose I don't really have any notes as I am unable to humbly request that anyone take pity on me and vote for me. So, I guess I will just leave thoughts of endless riches due to hordes of votes to the realm of my imaginations and not hope that it would invade the reality of my journey towards writing stardom. Thanking you rhetorically. Wink, wink, wink.......
