A Teacher's Prayer: By His Grayness
Oh, my dear GOD, the living GOD, I know you are here in my life Before me now even in the light Of this computer screen Willing to guide me in my prayers Already understanding where my Fingers will touch the keys of my questions I know you have given me free will And the responsibilities for the outcomes Of my choices and actions and even My thoughts I know those choices may take me where I don't really want to be in lack of my wisdom But I know you have a reason for free will And understand I will make many wrong choices And perhaps this is your intent for my learning Yet God, as I age in my deep pool of experiences It becomes so much harder to swim chasing tiny waves Of hopes, dreams, wishes, and mostly fears of being able To keep my life afloat with the energy of purpose left only With the buoyancy of loving to create and to teach And yet bearing the question of my right to teach in contrast To the quality of my understanding and my passions to give Others a detour around my life's jagged pathways and a grander Tour of life's geography than I might guide them through; guide me now: As a poet, a son, a father, a brother, a lover, a creator and your servant: AMEN |
