Trading our souls for clicks and beeps
A chapter in the book From out of the Grayness
Clicks and Beeps
by His Grayness
Ours is now a world of clicks and beeps
Heads bowed and texting to the iGOD Gray haired teacher old soul now weeps Beloved students twitter past without a nod Connected by fingers tapping on plastics With passion for compassion from the iNET Sporting their skills of Apple gymnastics Spewing mundane notes before they forget Shuffling into swarms of giggles and groans Unaware of life and the state they are in Praising the power of iPODS and Phones Thinking this is where enlightenment begins Distance matters not we're connected as one Touching is for keyboards and makes a mouse fly Hugging is forbidden, hot flat screens are no fun If the internet goes down we're all gonna cry There's no need for passion, emotions can't print There's no need for praying we google our fears As long as we're online we're making a mint Even with Photoshop we've learned to erase tears We've got our degrees and good paying gigs They promised us stock if we put out good tech They gave us good hardware and comfortable digs But I don't really care, Hey Boss where's my check? |
