~Dead Poet's Society~

Did you ever hear the name,
Dead Poet's Society?
I believe that they're to blame
for what's been bugging me.

I must attend their meetings
while I'm asleep in bed.
For sometimes in the morning
there's a poem in my head.

Attending meetings could explain
the reason I'm so tired.
I take the pen to paper
and find I've been inspired.

I don't remember joining,
I know that I'm not dead.
But why would I wake up each day
with poems in my head?

It's bothered me a lot of late,
for something that I fear.
Is ghostly figures in my room
who whisper in my ear.

I try to block the vision out
but it is very clear,
and when I do without a doubt
it seems to reappear.

I get the prompts from somewhere.
They must be from a dream.
So maybe if I perservere
with poems I'll be redeemed.

I get some crazy subjects,
tales of things I never knew.
Words I never heard before
will suddenly break through.

Today as I got out of bed
and viewed the morning sun,
I know I won't be finished
'till the paper work is done.

Poet's work is never finished
till the paper work is done.
