The government wanted Catholic hospitals to perform abortions and give out contraceptives. Both actions are repugnant to the Catholic faith. The government has no right to dictate to religious organizations. Catholic opposition was so strong, the administration has since rescinded its demand. Will Catholics remember this attempt to control church rules, come voting time?
