The Bird on Mary's Hands

by Dove

On a sunny, breezy day in the Grotto
I beheld a little bird
That had come in to land
And perched on Mary's hands.

It chirped and sang up to her,
It remained for a few moments,
Then again it took to the air.
To Her, it was carrying my pray'r.

I felt as tho, to her, it was carrying my prayer

A little sparrow that landed on the hands of a statue of the Blessed Virgin inspired this poem.
