An Easter Tale
by mermaids
she's pretty
silver gray floppy ears her eyes sparkle as she inherits the Easter Bunny title Petunia hops into my livingroom placing a basket of chocolate peanutbutter eggs on my giant tv then she steals my tax return off I chase the delicate petite French lop she is quick and I become a track star in lime green pajamas the bills are piling up checks are bouncing chocolate eggs are no exchange for my tax return the beautiful bunny dashes into Misty Pines Nursing Home where ninety-nine year old Greta screams in delight at the arrival of this unusual rabbit we both chase the bunny down the hall where I trip and fall into a laundry basket my butt in the air my screams are muffled by adult diapers the police escort me home chastizing me for chasing the Easter Bunny a warning is placed in my hand not the Easter I expected reaching for a chocolate peanutbutter egg to soothe my weary soul I bite hard and behold chocolate covers gold not peanutbutter a basketful of them my debts will be paid Petunia, you are a marvelous Easter Bunny happy holiday pretty girl I wish you well |
