Time to defy...

Freedom's Quest

Magnificent and grand rebels stand on golden sand,
sword in hand. Tyranny's screams haunt their dreams
beyond extremes. Their rulers swear "slaves beware!"
For life's unfair. Die is cast, two armies amassed.

Their battle cry, "prepare to die!" Pierced the sky,
Time to defy... With hearts entranced warriors advanced
and swords danced. Sparks flashed as swords clashed
and bodies crashed. Honor bled and belief spread.

Like men possessed the once oppressed were now obsessed,
with Freedom's quest. They'd never yield, held the field
till fate revealed its ending, one's doom impending,
their will unbending. Blood and gore paint Freedom's door.

The mighty cower as Hope's power starts to devour,
claims the hour. Through crimson sea of human debris
their masters flee. History sings of warrior kings
with angels wings. "Rejoice! Rejoice!" Screams Freedom's voice.

I do enjoy Curt's creation, The Vers Beaucoup, I hope you enjoy my attempt as much as I enjoyed putting it together. If you haven't tried the Vers yet, you should definitely give it ago, especially if you love to rhyme, as I do. Thank you for the contest Curt, I had fun!
