Sue's Surprise

by Readywriter52

Sue stood in the foyer brushing off the snow. She paused when she heard Billy's cry. Between the frozen temperatures and a baby who never seemed to stop crying, her winter funk consumed her life. After she entered the dark dining room, a sudden bright light blinded her. When her eyes adjusted, she saw her parents and Fred standing around a cake. He held out a pair of tickets to Hawaii. He said, “Happy birthday, honey. We’ll leave tomorrow.”
