As Good As Better Men

and always will be
I recall the depth I saw within those violet eyes; A worn out window stool within a down-town seedy bar I'd little to be proud of, 'least that's how I saw it then But she was like a message sent for me to try again Now I hold her wrinkled hand, the wedding band so thin; I sense my old fears lurking in the shadows of our room I kiss her silver hair, so feather light, my last goodbye |
