For my newest friend

I Love You, Too, Okay?

by Rdfrdmom2

thanks to Unzip Your Potential for the use of Alone

There are these calls at the end of the day

With truths so hateful they blow me away

Leaving me with very little to say

But knowing for you I shall always pray

For God by your side to always remain

So love and joy will become your refrain

Fear and hate you will soon learn to disdain

As these things can only drive you insane.

I know for you it’s a question of trust

Revenge is something for which you can’t lust

You think you must have it or you will bust

Give it over to God, you surely must

If you ever want a sense of true peace

To learn to sleep with your mind fully eased

Find a way to get your worries to cease

God’s Holy Spirit will give you release

To put all those ugly nightmares behind

So the bad memories will not remind

You of one who was evil and unkind

Instead, love, joy and friendship you will find.

Remember, forever, this was the day

You asked of me to teach you to pray

You allowed your heart to be on display

For Jesus’ love to comfort you, okay?

Don’t turn away now with some foolish pride

He and I will always be right inside

That place in your heart where love does reside

From that, you’ll never be able to hide.

I love you, too, okay?

This is for a wonderful new friend of mine with whom I feel such a connection. She is having a tough time but is a fighter and will make it, I believe. The last line may seem out of place, but she will understand why it's there and its significance.
