An eldritch horror in quatrains

Silence Sleeps

by Mark Jackson

Darkness creeps

Silence sleeps

Eerie sound

Dead god drowned

Ghostly glow

Seen below

Obscure stars

Aide-mémoires

Mournful song

Night feels wrong

Evil kin

Grows within

Anguished air

Of despair

Souls entwine

By design

Cold alone

Doubt has grown

Linger near

Wreathed in fear

Madness moulds

Dread unfolds

Bars of steel

Have appeal
