A Love Story

by Krissso

Brushing our teeth
He said “I wanna pick you up!”
I said “Then do it”
So then he picked me up. He spun me around and
with toothpaste in our mouths
we danced the sleepy and the sad out!

We walked to our cars,
both blinking through stars.
My shoes matched his eyes,
that closed for goodbye.
I had one foot in my ride,
like I do on that day,
when from across the street,
he turned back to say,
“Have fun! Err- I mean..”
My hand in the sky,
he stammers, I smile.
It was just for a second but it felt like a while
He was under the stop sign,
standing in his spotlight.
Am I the one
that’s scattered, or
has it always been time?
That's when I knew
the Sun had it right.
I called back to him, “Thanks boo! Emotional healing is fun!”
