Magpies are very territorial.
Black and White blues!
by Patricia Green1
Jenny rode her bike on the forest path around the lake, on a beautiful sunny day
Slowing down to search the treetops for the Rosellas nesting in them.
She felt something hit her helmet, hard!
Stopping, she looked behind her, only to see a magpie flying straight at her.
He swooped her helmet, as she turned her head, just missing her face.
Jenny jumped on her bike and headed for shelter, fast!
Dropping her bike outside a local Cafe, she raced inside.
The magpie took one last swoop, almost knocking her over,
as she ran through the door, to safety!
