Grandkids love to tell the story
He came to me out of the blue ~ no, it was really green
The green Roadrunner that he drove, most beautiful I'd seen
At first when he would look at me, then I would look right past
'Cause I was staring at his car, and thinking is it fast
And when we started dating, I was glad there was an us
I cared for him a lot, but that sweet car was such a plus
When looking forward to our date, I never had to deal
With any of his friends who might end up as a third wheel
He then asked me to marry him and with my head he'd mess
He said my gift would be his car if I would just say yes
I did love how that car had brought this man into my life
But would we still go parking in the car if I'm his wife
We married and we built a house, we raced and still had fun
When baby news arrived, the car and racing days were done
I love my husband, kids and grands, I always sing their praise
They love to hear about our fun back in the racing days
So when I think how time has flown, It tends to bring on tears
On May l8th, the two of us were married 50 years
And when I reminisce sometimes I needn't go too far
'Cause every now and then I'll stop and think about that car
