The Troubled Cowboy

Am I more
than my hat?
I must grab
the saddle
by the horn

 

Each cowboy
has a sad song
and every rose
has a thorn

 

I’ll be gone
by sunset
on a horse
that mirrors
heart and soul
 

Each cowboy
has a sad song
and every rose
has a thorn

 

Never face
a bull’s front
having fear
saddling up
is a mark
of courage

 

Each cowboy
has a sad song
and every rose
has a thorn

 

Hopes sinking
like the sun
hand on horse
heart in hand
horse thinking
me riding
outta town
with the sun

 

Each cowboy
has a sad song
and every rose
has a thorn

Writing Prompt
Similes and metaphors welcome! But make it unique! Stay away from cliched comparisons and think outside the box. (Opps. That was a cliche wasn't it?) Let's hear your most thought provoking observations and parallels. Make our minds work, but make the relationship clear. Refrain from drawing unusual comparisons and leaving them unexplained.
