Nasturtiums

by Wendy Rappeport

I want all my nasturtiums to flower at once.
Not next week, not tomorrow, but today.
I want to see them all flower-gold, orange and red.
In masses of colour, and happy reassurance
of more colour tomorrow.

I've carefully weeded my new garden bed,
And planted nasturtiums- gold, orange and red.
Scattered the seeds all over the soil.
But oh, how difficult it is to wait
And be patient, until I see
Life, full of nasturtiums-
in wonderful, flowering shades of summer.
