A very short story for dog lovers.
The Diagnosis

In the well-lighted office Davey held the beagle tightly to his chest.
“Is Speckles going to need shots?” he asked the young veterinarian.
“Not today. She’s okay but—“
Suddenly, the vet’s hand ruffled through Davey’s hair.
“—She needs a good shampoo, as do you, my boy. So stop cuddling with her. You both have fleas.”

Writing Prompt The story must be exactly 55 words long. There should be a title to the story and a brief description. It should have a beginning, middle and end. The end should bring home the point of the story in a humorous way. Twists that the reader doesn't see coming are encouraged. Puns and word play are often a feature in the story as well. |
