Demons as spiritual parasites

Fallen Angels, part IV

by estory

Then the angel spoke of the darkness that followed,
The silence. The long years spent in darkness and silence
Waiting and waiting, talking to itself the whole while
Of the places it would go and the things it would do
If only it had the chance. The chance of a lifetime.

A new home, Someone
In whom it could live again,
Taking up residence
Like some sort of parasite
Or ventriloquist.

And how grand that would be at last,
To live out the dememted twists and turns,
The depraved dreams and the lust,
In some beauty's head and beautiful limbs.
The master of another's fate,
Even unto death, and after that.

After reading over and over some of the descriptions of how Jesus threw demons out of people in the Bible, I began to consider them as spiritual parasites. Wandering in the darkness, they crave emotions and they feed on our emotions when they inhabit our bodies. Just the opposite of the good angels who seek to nurture our emotions, to bring them up to God. It seems to me now that so much of evil is really this turning inward into the self. estory
