Gioconda

Gioconda

by Iza Deleanu

"I closed myself inside the passage of time. I sat amid a storm, watching the grains of sand slip through my fingers. I wandered aimlessly from Monday to Sunday, never feeling like I was truly at home. I was lost and confused, uncertain of what I truly wanted. As I gazed into the mirror, I hardly recognized myself. I wondered who the pretty face staring back at me belonged to because it didn't feel like my own.

But then, as I looked again, I was filled with a sense of surprise and recognition. I am Gioconda - beautiful on the outside but frozen within. Tic-toc, my time is running out. I tumble backward through time, falling through the other half of the hourglass and into a new cycle. Now you see me, now you don't!"
