Don’t Wait ‘Till After You’re Dead     27.02.24

I still recall the old preacher,

And the words he so often said.

“Go talk to the Lord today,

Don’t wait ‘till after you’re dead.”

The words remain as true today,

As on those days way back then.

Always in too much of a hurry

Seems foolishness is the way of men.

Too busy on chasing new money

Success is one’s prime purpose in life

A holiday in the Bahamas

Without the kids and the wife

Today I reheard that old warning

Saw a sign shining so bright in my head

And I heard a message screaming

“Don’t wait ‘till after you’re dead.”

Too busy to take on that warning

An opportunity’s aloft in the breeze

A million attracts like old Satan

Money tempts, it’s a lethal disease

I close my eyes, still see that old preacher

And I ponder on the words he said

Starting to think they may have meaning.

“Don’t wait ‘till after you’re dead.”
