Jane tells Barbie about a date gone wrong.

Bad Date

by HarryT

Characters:

 JANE (30s, bubbly, tipsy)

 BARBIE (30s, sober)

Setting:

Jane’s apartment. It is dimly lit. Jane sits on her couch, sipping a glass of wine, an empty bottle stands on a cocktail table. Barbie slides in next to her.

Dialogue:

BARBIE

(concerned)

I was worried when you called. And gosh, you look a little woozy. Like three sheets to the wind. What's going on? Did someone die?

JANE

This guy took me to a play and explained to me everything that was happening on stage. I finally told him to shut-up. The people around us applauded.

BARBIE

(raises an eyebrow)

Why did you ever date this jerk?

JANE

Well, he’s a friend of my cousin.

BARBIE

This guy sounds like a real loser.

JANE

But you know what was really funny? When he drove up to my house, it took him five tries to parallel park.

BARBIE

What did you say?

JANE

(giggles)

I said I can’t date someone who can’t parallel park. And jumped out of the car.

BARBIE

Well, Jane, let’s drink to putting that male chauvinist in his place.

(ladies grin, raises their glasses and lights fade out}
