This work has reached the exceptional level
A private spot for making love.

Under the Cottonwood's shade

by Willie P. Smith

There once was a small lake over there,
Now the water is gone, the ground is bare.

A beautiful old cottonwood stood at its edge
That's where we made our life's love pledge.

Lying on a colorful quilt your mom made,
We made love under the cottonwood's shade.

We held each other extra tight
Through the day and into the night.

We were gripped by love and the vows we made
In the warmth of the sun, under the cottonwood's shade.
