2nd Place Finish

Posterior Motives

by Douglas Goff

Jimmy waited in the hollow for several hours. Nothing but the mournful hoots of distant owls greeted his ears.

Upon his return last year, nobody believed him. Even his parents refused to entertain he’d been abducted by aliens while camping here.

In fact, the town’s people called him a freak and gave him a wide berth. So here he sat, out in the hollow again. Jimmy would come here for the next fifty years if need be.

Oh, not because everybody called him a freak. No, he was. Jimmy kept coming back because he really wanted to be probed again.
