IN PLATO'S ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE, THE "WORLD OUTSIDE THE CAVE" REPRESENTS
REALITY OF THE TRUTH. THE PRISONERS CHAINED IN THE CAVE HAVE BEEN CONFINED SINCE BIRTH, AND ONLY EXPERIENCE 'SHADOWS' CAST ON THE WALL FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD, WHICH THEY MISTAKE FOR REALITY.
