Santy

by Bill Schott

I'm often asked these questions
about what can he or can't he,
but I'm absolute without dispute
about the subject ...Santy.

We are much too often fooled
by tricksters dressed up like him,
they look the part, with boot and cart,
adorned from limb to limb.

These are his spirits, sent about
to spread his cheer around us all;
promises for secret wishes,
from the "Santa" in the mall.

One day he's tall, or even stout,
he might even seem familiar.
Is that my pop, or Mr. Scott?
The answer'd be a thriller.

But, whatever you decide,
will be the bestest reason;
what e'er their name, they're all the same,
throughout the Christmas season.
