When we doubled up
It was not enough
He wouldn’t even look my way
Then the second time
He did not arrive
I let him know what I had to say

But third time’s a charm
At least in my case
We wined and dined
And felt so fine
I admired his great taste

As young as twenty one
Carefree and having fun
His charm was hard to resist
A man with jealousy
Took that out on me
So he talked to him with his fists

And I wasn’t scared now
No, those days are done
Got a getaway car
And my own bodyguard
He even gave me a gun

I put it to his head

But lets rewind
Go back in time
When recited our vows
He grew promiscuous
I became suspicious
When he wasn’t around

But it became too much
What was he trying to cover?
What about me?
Or our family?
Did he even really love her?

But I stayed with the chaos
Things came after being lost
Was it even really wrong?
It became a normal routine
He always reigned supreme
And the danger turned me on

But chaos caught up to us
Sirens left the house in a rush
I panicked with the coke
It became like a joke
$60,000 in a toilet I flushed

So in the court I took a seat
And in that court he took a stand
He was coming clean
But it wasn't all for me
Who am I
In the witness protection program?

I lived the life
Of a mob wife
He even gave me a gun
I put it to his head
But I couldn’t
Pull
It

I wrote this after watching Goodfellas and wrote it from the character Karen's perspective, who is the wife of a mobster. In my head it's a song, and I hope you hear it when you read it. Maybe? Regardless, thank you for reading.

And a very big thank you to Susan F.M.T. for the art :)
