Flight

With dire dread, I sat, marooned, the other side of his large, forbidding desk.
"I'm afraid," his words stung, "your results are positive."
Standing, dazed and deafened to more, I flew from the room.
As I wove my way through the waiting throng, a shrill voice pierced my numbness:
"Next!"
