The Missus I Misses

by Tom Horonzy

There is no other way to say
I miss the kisses she used to lay
on my two lips night and day
when suddenly they went away.

It was as if when the sun arose
every light in the house got doused
and it wasn't me who hit the switch
for I still felt the same old itch,
calamine lotion couldn't help;
A predicament I'd rather not be in.

I tried getting bolder as I got older,
but that only got her wick to smolder
It was as if I poured water on a flame.
As the male of the species, was I to blame?
Silly olde me; how could that have been
as she was the one seeming indifferent.

Could I strike gold with a new technique?
I went to her seeking instructions
relative to the art of seduction
which at seventy was hard to do,
and yet, out of the blue came her reply ...
"Might help if 'it'  was reconstructed."
I made an appointment the next day!
