All that remains of a life lived
A Name on a Stone
by Sandtana Kay
Our lives pass and in time few remember us.
We become just a name on a stone.
The dash between date of birth and
date of death is our life events.
Joys, sorrows, hopes and dreams.
There were tears when we were
laid to rest, Family and friends
gathered to say goodbye.
After many years storms cause the
stone to become hard to read.
Years pass, memories fade, and we
become just a name on a stone.

When I visit the cemetery, I wonder about the dash between life and death on the stones I read.
