Is yours an annual or perennial?

Life is But a Flower

by Tom Horonzy

... begun by
a seed impregnating an egg.

Then, somehow, someway
the newly paired, find recess
in a woman's womb developing
as a spore in sun-soaked ground,
to eventually be the equivalency
of those that came before it.

Eventually, when the time is right,
both burst forth into the light,
spreading arm and legs,
florets and fronds
dawning their day, in a display,
leaving most mortals amazed.

Finally, in the course of time.
the bloom that blossomed, bursts.
Life ends as quickly as it began
when measured against eternity.
Here one day, gone two-morrow.
All that live will ultimately die.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
What more has been promised us?

Hope - that we live forever
like perennial flowers.

Life is ... writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
The idea is to begin the title with "Life is" ... a bed of roses, or a dream, or whatever you claim it to be. It's topic based. I hope it'll be interesting where it is you are headed.

I was reading in "A Shropshire Lad" # V by A.E. Housman in the fourth line from the end "- Ah, life, what is it but a flower, and consider how true it is, so herein I tried to describe how so."
