Making new memories

Molly is Moving

by Jessica Wheeler

Her toys and clothes are packed away,
Each doll and every blouse,
A nervous Molly leaves today,
To move to a new house.

She's sad to know she can't replace
But must she leave behind?
she asks mom for one more suitcase,
To pack all she can find.

She tried to pack her bedroom wall,
Marked with her height each year,
It would not budge though, not at all,
So Molly left it there.

She has to try for the front door,
She helped dad paint it blue,
It shuts, opens, but wont move more,
So it will stay here too.

Those footprints in the driveway are
Of Molly's little feet,
She tried to lift but it was hard,
To move all that concrete.

She pushed and pulled her favorite tree,
The one she loved to climb,
Then Molly stopped as soon as she,
Heard mom say it was time.

As they began to drive away,
She looked out her window,
Molly was sad she couldn't stay,
But knew she had to go.

Along the way, her mom and dad,
Said they were nervous too,
And just like her, a little sad,
To live somewhere that's new.

And this put Molly’s mind at ease
As they arrived in town
Excited to make memories,
As she looked all around.

When finally they pulled up to,
A front door painted red
Although before she liked the blue
She now liked red instead.

Her brand new room and big window,
made Molly smile to see,
And just outside, wouldn't you know,
A a perfect climbing tree.

She thought about her old room wall And so she would begin,
Dad drew a line to show how tall
She was when they moved in

That's when the smile on Molly’s face
Really began to show
A brand new start and so much space
Meant lots of room to grow

With much more to explore and see,
Molly began to roam,
Her brand new house turned out to be,
A great place to call home.
