Becoming A Worthy Father

My life as a father was full of tests

and many mistakes came right from the start.

'Twas a gift to me, I gave it my best.

Mistakes were made just following my heart.

My patience and wisdom was lacking then.

Lessons were unlearned that I tried to teach.

I wish for a chance to do it over again.

This time I feel that their minds I could reach.

I was not the father I wished to be.

I was not the father needed back then.

Life as a father, such sweet memory,

if only I could do it over again.

If I were your father, you'd surely know-

I was only trying to help you grow.
