If I Won The Lottery

by Debi Pick Marquette

If I won the lottery
I might just give some back
There's not much I really need
Maybe a few days at the track

I could shop more on Amazon
Purchase by the bunch
But what my house doesn't need
Is another pile of junk

I could give almost all of it
To friends and family
They might go on vacation
And forget all about me

I'll donate to the homeless
That's an awesome place to give
But what if something happens
And I don't have a place to live?

So I think I'll save the whales
Keep them here to swim the seas
But if the oceans start to dry
That's not the place to be,

I'll give some to the government
They'll treat me really fair
Actually I'm just kidding
Like I haven't paid my share?

I could give it to my grandkids
But they really aren't too needy
And why would I want to teach
Them how to become greedy

I'm satisfied with all I have
I won't chance becoming wicked
I guess I'll leave the lottery
To those who buy a ticket!
