Message from Lily to Sunny...
Damp And Dejected
Background:
Lily, LisaMay’s cat in New Zealand, has a pen-pal friendship with Sunny, Wendy G’s dog in Australia, where there is bad flooding at the moment.
Hi there Sunny —
You’re a soggy Aussie doggy,
who wants to go outside and play.
This I sincerely pray:
Rain, rain, go away!
Rushing water, causing harm,
rising high with great alarm.
Keep a sunny nature, like your name.
Those awful floods away will drain.
Places, people, pets all wet,
with disaster’s rainfall threat.
Sunny, if you were a Labrador
perhaps you’d like the rain much more?
When the weather is dark and grim,
and everyone might have to swim,
your dog-paddle training
keeps you safe when it’s raining.
Does your dog kennel float?
Has it launched like a boat?
Captain Sunny sounds quite funny;
Mama might have to spend some money
to buy you a waterproof coat.
I send you my best,
please don’t be depressed
about this wet mess.
