Pride Unseated By Humility

by Deniz22

Sad to say, I used to be so proud,
Boasted of my everything, real loud.

In each endeavor, I was the very best,
I couldn't keep buttons on my classy vest.

Though I was very haughty
I thought such not naughty.

I gloried in the least of my accomplishments,
Burying all dissent in self compliments.

After all, why listen to clods,
Better to be one of the gods!

Today I know better, learned a thing or two,
Such "gods" as I need to learn humility too.

So I'm working at being truly humble,
And I admit I often stumble.

But the old confidence is coming back,
And soon I'll outshine everyone on the humble track!
