Maya was denied admission to her chosen university. Depressed, she went to bed early that night. The next day, she went to work waiting tables.
The restaurant had its regulars, but a new face sat in her section. The woman noticed Maya's sad demeanor and began a conversation leading to Maya's state of mind. The woman offered a sympathetic ear. She ate her food and left, leaving a tip and a card with words, "Call me. Angela Michaels, University Admissions."
