Paris. A Street Clock. A couple. And love......

The secret story of the Clock

by palmart

In a dark corner in Paris, an ancient Clock was silent witness of clandestine dates of a couple. Every other week they had passionate kisses and endless hugs. She, a nun, suddenly received the bad news of relocation to South America. He was a Prince in love- feared for the end- outlined a plan. He stole the hands of the clock and travelled secretly on the same ship. Arriving, he showed her the clock hands with a marriage proposal.

This is a wider story (book idea, to be more precise) that knocked my mind for some time. Today I decided to release as a shorter story to test the argument. I was cutting and cutting details but the essence is mainly the same. Maybe in the near future a novel may come up with full details as originally created.

I expressed the symbolic act of stealing the clock hands to have different meanings:

-The Prince took all the time shared in that corner;
-No other people will read their time
-They`ll love for Eternity
-Those hands expressed the limitations of all dates (beginings and ends), by removing them, endless love!

Thanks Mavi for being an endless source of inspiration.

I hope you enjoy reading this tale as I enjoyed writing it.
