Though a gig as a guest columnist continues to elude me, I managed to get a few words in print. My letter to the editor of the Melrose Weekly News appeared this morning, the first listed!
Library Upgrade is Financially Nonsensical
I am disappointed, though unsurprised, that the council approved the proposal to borrow $10.8 million to renovate the Melrose Public Library.
The rationale for the approval is that otherwise we will lose the $8 million grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Such logic is tantamount to having dinner at the Ritz, so as to make use of a fifteen-dollar gift card.
