Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
There is a smile

Behind Each Tear

I carried you close to my heart
and cherished ev’ry day.
You were the apple of my eye
loved more than words could say.
 
The childhood challenges you faced
with courage you avowed.
Your character and qualities
all made your family proud.
 
Years quickly passed, we parted ways --
you had your reasons why.
But in your wake – a broken heart --
was left with no goodbye.
 
As tears appear and gently fall
old mem’ries reappear.
Until the day I breathe my last
my hopes and prayers are clear.
 
Through ev’ry tear there is a smile
I wear upon my face.
The reason for the smile you see
is His amazing grace.
 
The greatest story ever told --
forbid that I forget
that for our burdens He came down --
He is our safety net.
 
Today I count my riches vast
and not the treasures lost.
I live each day and ev’ryday
with gratitude – His cost.

Families can be loving and forgiving and then there are those that are not.
I have some of both and for my sanity and well being, I choose to count the blessings that I have and not dwell (at least not very often) on those that I do not have. His love is always enough.
