I helped design the curriculum for the H-E-AR-T V2V (Victim-2-Victim) Retreats. Everyone on the committee had either experienced a sexual assault/rape personally or had a family member who had. I also have had the privilege of being a co-teacher and/or a coach at three of the retreats, including the first two. It is, at once, the most rewarding and the most exhausting work I have ever done. We have developed a Khulamani Sisterhood over the years. Even if we hadn't met before, once we get the chance to do so, the bond is immediate. We were doing this long before the "Me, Too" movement, which I applaud. All of us are needed to increase awareness of this issue - the only thing needed for a person to be raped is for a rapist to be present - there are no other mitigating factors. Thank you for reading. A special thanks to Renate-Bertodi for the use of "seeing our truth." It is essential for victims to see their truth so they can begin their journey of healing.
