Clean Up On Aisle Two

by Reese Turner

Hello? We met just the other day
Let's meet again, is there any way?
Because I’m taken with your smile
Your laugh, your looks, and your style.

Until now, I thought a grocery store
The place for food and nothing more
But, by chance, we met at the deli
Hope you didn’t think me too silly…

When a mutual friend introduced me
To you and I sighed, “How can this be?”
Seeing that you wore no ring – nor I –
I resolved to not let you pass by,

So, I plead an evening meal with you
A movie? A play? We’ll do those too.
I promise respect. I’ll open your door.
Allow me some time, I sincerely implore.
