Happy Birthday, Anna Linda!

by Sally Law

A friend like you, is true blue,
and tells it like it is.
Your heart is big, and Anna, you--
tuck in my store bought tag.

You always seem to have:
spare change...
a poet's pen...
an ear that bends...
a needed grin...
and shelter in...
the worst of storms.

A cautionary tale you weave,
to protect us from the enemy.
There is no gray from your worldview,
only black and white, framed in truth.

On this day, I celebrate,
your many gifts and unique call.
Anna dear, please... never change!

I was at an event one evening, and my best girlfriend put her arm around me and discreetly tucked in my dangling tag. A friend seems to have a pen when you need one... or some spare change to feed the parking meter. A true friend lends their ear, and has our back. Most importantly, a friend can tell you anything, especially the hard truth. Anna Linda is such a friend.
