Eager for more delights in store
Temptation To Explore
Most of the time our days come and go
without much distinction or novelty
yet once in awhile, there occurs an exception
without notice or explanation, just arrives
to touch and stir within an exploring sensation
too enticing to resist nor ignore the temptation
Thus it was, one happenstance day I was tempted
by a winding path that irresistibly nudged me to explore
I followed it with leisurely wandering steps, intrigued
by its mystery, excited to see more delights in store
Passed a quiet squirrel lazily sunning on his perch
bestirred, it chattered curiously at me, instantly
distracted by a timid rabbit's sudden dash and run
scampering madly, hopping behind a stately tree
I nodded to a sweetly smiling, flirting daisy
waved happily to a gorgeous pirouetting butterfly
enchantedly sat down by a joyfully murmuring stream
playfully flung little pebbles across the other side
In corner shadow limb, noticed busy spider spin her lace
while pausing awhile to take in the stunning views
of the kaleidoscope landscape atop a wooded hill
reverently sighing on bended knee majestically
magnificent panoramic scope above and below
On way home, paused again to linger beneath
a briskly swaying pine rapturously captivating me
no further had I to go than this suddenly exiting path
in nature's most resplendent 'guest room' heir to
any one of us sometimes on any 'happenstance day'
bequeathed to us, irrepressible gift of The Divine
