Iceberg

by dragonpoet

Winter weather runs through your frigid veins
It took me way too long to understand
To really live I have to take the reins.

Ice has frozen you into your ways,
You say you love, but you really control,
Any feeling of weakness, your nerves fray.

Your love seemed real, it was only a role
You made your love seem clear as crystal
But you took me for a shadowed stroll

Through worlds where words were used like a pistol
Each a bullet that wounded by poor heart
So I wanted to give you a fistful

Of the pain that was tearing my apart
Until I finally saw all your guile
Decided my life needed a kick start

I have crossed what seems like a million miles.
Of my actions I have taken command
I no longer frown, now I can smile

It was heaven when I finally felt
The ice you put in my heart start to melt
Winter weather runs though your frigid veins
To really live I have to take the reins
