Landscape and the Fall of Icarus

At first glance the painting is quite serene
Pastoral scene appearing busy but peaceful
Entire landscape sings of spring

Plants are blooming around the hill
Farmer with his horse plows terraces
Shepherd, herding dog by his side
Watches his sheep quietly graze
Triple masted ship with jib billowing
Sails the mellow green sea

Near the ship splashes
Two legs flail as an
Insolent Icarus drowns
